A new online portal that will streamline licensing is now available for the commercial wild-capture marine fishing industry in Tasmania.
FishPort, developed in close consultation with industry, is the first part of the Fisheries Digital Transition Project, enabled through a $5 million investment from the Tasmanian Government.
We want to do all we can to help our vital sectors in these difficult times, and these changes will provide a streamlined application process for everyone in the sector, without the need for hard copy documents.
Importantly, paper-based options will still be available for those who would prefer to continue to submit hard-copies and further updates may be introduced in the future following ongoing industry consultation.
Changes like this are all about supporting the sector and allowing it to continue to grow.
The Fisheries Digital Transition Project is designed for efficient fisheries management and quota monitoring. The next stages of the FDTP include further functionality in FishPort and the advancement of digital ‘catch and effort’ reporting tools.
