New Opportunity To Boost Housing Supply In Beaconsfield

  • Expressions of Interest open for residential and commercial land near Fremantle
  • Land suitable for a local centre, supermarket, and residential purposes, including social and affordable housing and aged care

The Cook Labor Government is calling for interest from residential and commercial developers to transform a key area of Davis Park, in Beaconsfield, to boost housing supply as part of the Beaconsfield urban renewal project.

The State Government, through DevelopmentWA, is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from industry to develop up to 11,360 square metres of mixed-use land within the Davis Park Mixed Use Precinct, just 3 kilometres from Fremantle.

The site is suitable for a range of purposes. However, preferred uses include a local centre and supermarket, plus residential, aged care, and social and affordable housing up to six storeys.

The Beaconsfield urban renewal project will provide a strong residential foundation to support the expansion of commercial amenity, with more than 700 dwellings anticipated to be delivered across both projects.

Comprising three lots, developers have the opportunity to deliver just the local centre on the proposed 6,887sqm Lot 1 or a consolidated mixed-use outcome on Lots 1, 2, and 3.

Lot 1 is zoned Local Centre and lots 2 and 3 are zoned R-100, under the approved Davis Park Local Structure Plan.

The Beaconsfield suburb will be transformed with the 10-hectare Davis Park redevelopment, complementing the adjacent 3.8ha former TAFE site, delivering connected, sustainable infill development that bolsters housing supply and integrates with the surrounding area.

The former TAFE site is expected to include single residential lots, townhouses, grouped housing, and apartments, and intends to offer a selection of affordable and social housing options.

Developers and operators are encouraged to express their interest in the opportunity by registering at by 2pm (WST) Thursday, 22 August.

Following this, a call for submissions will be made seeking detailed proposals.

As stated by Lands Minister John Carey:

“The redevelopment of Davis Park will deliver connected, sustainable infill development that provides more housing diversity, as part of the urban renewal of Beaconsfield.

“The Davis Park local centre offers the opportunity to expand and rejuvenate existing retail opportunities along South Street, with both the Davis Park precinct and adjacent former Beaconsfield TAFE redevelopment.

“Our Government continues to unlock land supply land to bolster housing supply and commercial opportunities to ensure existing and future residents have the amenity they need on their doorstep to build and sustain thriving local communities.”

As stated by Fremantle MLA Simone McGurk:

“This is another key step forward, as the Cook Labor Government continues this important urban renewal project in Beaconsfield.

“The transformation of Davis Park will provide the opportunity to boost housing supply and provide more local jobs right near the heart of Fremantle.

“This is a growing local community and it’s vital we plan for and develop more housing and amenity in Beaconsfield.”
