New pavilion for Red Hill Recreation Reserve

MPSLogo_News.jpg

Red Hill has a vibrant and engaged community – and a lot of our hinterland residents are actively engaged in their local sports clubs. Red Hill Junior Football Club, Red Hill Junior Netball Club, Red Hill Football Netball Club and Red Hill Cricket Club all call Red Hill Recreation Reserve home and share use of the pavilion.

As the local sporting community grows, the sporting facilities needs to accommodate the additional demand. This spring, work will start on upgrading the pavilion.

Works include:

  • updating existing change rooms
  • additional unisex change rooms with individual cubicles for changing and showering
  • new home and away change rooms with amenities
  • new umpire change rooms
  • additional storage.

Environment-friendly updates includes replacing the gas hot water service with electrical heat pumps and swapping all existing light globes to LED-lights. Building materials will be responsibly sourced.

The works is delivered by Mornington Peninsula Shire in partnership with the Victorian Government:

  • $2,000,000 funding received from Victorian State Government
  • $1,582,936 funding received from Mornington Peninsula Shire.

Works will begin in September. The first gate down Arkwells Lane will be closed during construction. Access will still be available into the reserve through the second gate on Arkwells Lane and the three gates on Arthurs Seat Road.

We adopted the 2023–24 Budget earlier this year. In this Budget, funding was set aside to make major upgrades to the Red Hill Recreation Reserve pavilion. The new facility will be modern, user-friendly and will accommodate all three sporting clubs comfortably.

There will be some temporary inconvenience to user groups, traffic management and the markets, hopefully this can be overcome as the addition of unisex change rooms and other improvements will make a huge difference by further encouraging girls and women to participate in sport at the reserve.
