New playground in north

The City is
calling for community input on a new sub-regional playground at Goldsworthy
Reserve in Corio.

We are seeking
ideas into the design of the new facility, which will be situated on unused
land adjacent the reserve’s upgraded athletics track.

Nature-based
play is intended to be a key component of the playground, with the natural
elements and landscape to serve as features.

Potential
features include gardens, trees, hills, open lawn, mud flats, sand and tree
houses.

Concept
drawings and a video have been released on the City’s website at to help generate further ideas from the community.

Residents can
provide their input via an online survey or pick up a copy from the City’s
customer service office in the Corio Shopping Centre.

The survey is open
until 20 December.

The City has committed
$350,000 towards the sub-regional facility, which will be a similar size to
Gateway Sanctuary (Leopold) and Kingston Park (Ocean Grove) playgrounds.

The playground
follows on from the $1.3 million upgrade of Goldsworthy Reserve’s athletics
track, which was fully funded by the City.

The brand new,
state-of-the-art facility was officially opened in October.
