Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery has today announced that two new public schools will be built for the start of the 2024 school year.
The new schools will provide state-of-the-art education options for families in two of Perth’s growing suburbs.
Henley Brook South Primary School (planning name) will cater for 430 students and be built at a cost of $26.35 million.
In Hammond Park, Wattleup East Primary School (planning name) will be built to accommodate 430 students at a cost of $25.15 million.
The new schools will both include an administration block, early childhood teaching block, teaching blocks with general learning areas, inclusive education room and specialist rooms for art and science. They will also be equipped with a library, covered assembly area, music room, oval and hard courts.
Rooftop solar panels will be installed at both of these new schools and space has been set aside for a future Educare facility to be run by a third-party.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“I am sure that families with young children in and around Henley Brook and Hammond Park will be pleased to hear that new primary schools will be built ready for the 2024 school year.
“Every child in Western Australia deserves to have access to a quality school and education to ensure that they learn and thrive, both academically and emotionally.
“We know that the existing Brabham Primary School and Hammond Park Primary School are very popular choices for local families, so these new schools will relieve some of the enrolment pressure and provide high quality options for families close to home.”
As stated by West Swan MLA Rita Saffioti:
“Brabham and Henley Brook have many new families moving in everyday and our Government is committed to giving our students the best possible education in this rapidly growing corridor.
“The new primary school will become a central part of the community and it will provide our West Swan students with first class education facilities whilst relieving enrolment pressure on nearby schools.
“Brabham Primary School is already bursting at the seams so this new school will help give some relief.”
As stated by Kwinana MLA Roger Cook:
“I am delighted to hear that a new primary school will be built in Hammond Park.
“I know that Wattleup East Primary School will be warmly welcomed by the local community when it opens in 2024.”
