New members have been appointed to the Reef 2050 Plan Independent Expert Panel (IEP).
The IEP provides scientific and expert advice related to the Great Barrier Reef, including support for the implementation and review of the Reef 2050 Plan.
The new Panel members have been appointed for a term of 5 years to advise the government on the big challenges and opportunities for the Reef.
This includes the 2025 review of the Reef 2050 Plan, the increasing threats from climate change, current and future research needs, communicating actions and emerging scientific matters.
This is a joint appointment by the Australian and Queensland Environment Ministers.
Professor Margaret Sheil AO is the Chair of Panel and is a highly experienced scientist and advisor.
