Tourism Council WA has welcomed the release of the first look at a sustainable resort north of Exmouth, which will provide world-class accommodation and amenity to visitors.
Through Tattarang’s Ningaloo Lighthouse Project, an existing Exmouth caravan park will be transformed into a low-impact resort, with a mix of accommodation options and facilities including restaurants and bars, swimming pools, and recreation and boating facilities.
Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said new and innovative tourism product such as the Ningaloo Lighthouse Project was essential to visitor appeal.
“Attracting visitors to any destination relies on the development of new and diverse experiences,” Mr Hall said.
“Western Australia has long lagged behind other destinations in creating new, sustainable resorts in regional areas, providing authentic experiences for Western Australians and out-of-state visitors.
“It has been years since Western Australia saw a new, world-class resort built in regional WA.
“This innovative project will fill the gap for world-class accommodation and resort-style facilities which is expected by many guests.
“The diverse offering at the resort will accommodate the needs and budgets of all visitors, improving the guest experience for everyone.”
Mr Hall said the resort development, and eventually its operation, would make a significant contribution to the local economy.
“The development of the resort is expected to create more than 120 jobs for locals during the construction phase, contributing almost $18 million to the local economy,” he said.
“Once up and running, the resort is anticipated to create hundreds of jobs and inject more than $30 million to the local economy each year.”
