A notoriously dangerous Mount Rowan intersection has received a $1.5 million safety upgrade.
A new roundabout at the Gillies Road and Kennedy’s Road intersection was funded with $1 million from the Victorian Government’s Fixing Country Roads Program and $500,000 from the City of Ballarat.
Mayor of Ballarat Cr Ben Taylor said the intersection had a significant history of crashes.
“The completion of the new roundabout at Gillies and Kennedy’s Road represents a huge reduction in risk for motorists using the intersection and a major improvement in road safety in the area.”
“City of Ballarat very much welcomed the investment from the Victorian Government to enable this project to be elevated in our capital works program and delivered this year.
“Contractors Fulton Hogan were engaged by Council to deliver the project and they have done an excellent job in getting it done on time and on budget, with minimal disruption to the community and traffic flows on Gillies Road.
“The asset will be a welcome addition to City of Ballarat’s road network and represents a very significant capital investment into the north ward.”
