New ‘Roving Repair’ Program For Stonnington

Moving to a circular economy is about changing how we think about waste. So we’re focusing on avoiding waste, maximising reuse, repurposing, repair and recycling. ‘Don’t toss it; Fix it!’

On Sunday, 19 May the City of Stonnington will launch its Roving Repair program at Malvern Library.

The first of four upcoming Roving Repair workshops will have repairers with a range of skills such as textiles, wood, crockery and jewellery onsite to support you in developing skills and confidence to repair beloved items instead of throwing them away.

Repairs will be free wherever possible, with basic materials provided. You may need to purchase materials or parts and bring your item back to another upcoming workshop. If our expert repairers can’t fix your item on the spot, we will advise you on what to do.

Although the events are free, booking will help us ensure we have enough repairers to help as many people as possible. You can also let us know what you plan to bring, so our repairers are prepared!

Book your spot now at one or all of the workshops:

  • Phoenix Park Library (meeting room), Wednesday 19 June 3-5:30pm
  • Toorak/South Yarra Library (meeting room), Saturday 24 August, 2-4:305pm
  • Prahran Square Library, Saturday 26 October, 10am-1pm

These workshops reduce waste, save money and help keep beloved items in circulation for longer, moving us closer to a circular economy and reducing waste sent to landfills.
