  • Ramsay Health Care to run Joondalup Health Campus (JHC) until June 2043
  • Additional 15 years under modernised agreement to benefit local community
  • Paves the way for major $190 million expansion of Joondalup Private Hospital
  • Complements Cook Government’s ongoing $269 million redevelopment of JHC

The Cook Government has reached an agreement with Ramsay Health Care to continue to run Joondalup Health Campus (JHC) until June 2043, paving the way for a major expansion of services in the northern suburbs.

The new service agreement extends Ramsay Health Care’s management of JHC for an additional 15 years, providing long-term stability and certainty for the delivery of both public and private healthcare in the northern corridor.

The modern agreement also ensures the long-standing public-private partnership between the Western Australian Government and Ramsay Health Care continues to meet the needs of the WA community.

Ramsay Health Care has today announced it will soon begin work on a major $190 million expansion of private services at JHC, which will include a new state-of-the-art operating theatre complex and a 55 per cent increase in bed capacity.

The significant expansion will complement the $269 million joint investment of the Cook and Commonwealth governments in public services already underway and transition JHC into one of the biggest health campuses in the State.

As stated by Premier Roger Cook:

“All well-designed healthcare systems across the world make use of a mix of public and private services and that is exactly what we are delivering in Joondalup.

“This contract extension allows us to get on with the job of continuing to provide top quality public services in Joondalup, as well as paving the way for a major uplift in private services, including 55 per cent more beds.

“I thank Ramsay Health Care for their continued investment in the northern corridor and welcome their announcement of increased private services for patients.”

As stated by Health and Mental Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:

“The Cook and Commonwealth government’s joint $269 million investment in public services at Joondalup is already benefiting the community through the impressive Mental Health Unit, and there is more to come.

“This modernised and extended service agreement provides stability for the community, allowing us to continue the important transformation of JHC that is already underway.

“Ramsay Health Care’s $190 million investment in private facilities is a welcome addition to available services in the northern corridor, providing increased choice for patients.”

As stated by Joondalup MLA Emily Hamilton:

“The Joondalup Health Campus is the major hospital that will continue to service the northern corridor, which is one of the fastest growing regions in the country.

“The Cook Government, in partnership with the Commonwealth, continues to invest in key health infrastructure in Joondalup and is already investing in additional public services including the 102-bed Mental Health Unit, extra parking, a new public ward block and expanded surgical services.

“Today’s significant announcement will transform JHC into one of the largest health campuses in WA.”
