Nillumbik Shire Council has adopted a new Temporary and Community Events Signage Policy providing a more efficient and effective process for local community and not-for profit groups to advertise events.
The policy covers a range of signage methods and outlines a clear and consistent approvals process for all advertising opportunities. The plan will provide:
- A consistent and transparent approach to managing temporary and community signage.
- Formal locations for the display of signage.
- Help to reduce visual clutter which detracts from the natural and built environment.
- Parameters to improve road safety by reducing distractions to drivers of vehicles.
Mayor Karen Egan said the new policy will provide an extra five locations where corflutes and banners can be used to promote events.
“We have so many amazing events run by community groups, and this policy will help to effectively advertise those events in the best location and in the right way,” Cr Egan said.
“It clearly outlines what options groups have and what steps to take throughout the application process.”
“We consulted with a wide range of sport clubs, markets and festival groups to get the best outcome possible for the community.”
