Canberrans will soon have access to additional tennis facilities in the Gungahlin region, with the ACT Government to start the construction of the Gungahlin Tennis facility.
Located in Amaroo, the facility is part of the ACT Government’s plan to support the growing Gungahlin region – delivering the infrastructure that makes Canberra one of the most liveable cities in the world.
The construction of the projects will also create local jobs, supporting our efforts to grow the ACTs total employment base to 250,000 jobs by 2025.
The new Gungahlin Tennis Facility will include 10 full sized courts, two hot shots courts, a hitting wall, LED lighting, parking, and a pavilion. Consultation on the design for the new facility is now open, with the public encouraged to view the designs for the new facility on the until 19 August.
Over the next four years the ACT government will also begin scoping works for future upgrades to the Dickson and Manuka pools. This includes refurbishing the toddler pool at Manuka Pool for families to continue to enjoy in the summer months.
In addition, the ACT Government will provide $1.82 million over three years to support six local organisations, including the Physical Activity Foundation and Pegasus, to encourage more kids to get active and stay healthy.
