New state-of-the-art Burnie Ambulance Super Station ready to serve the community

Tasmanian Government

The construction of the new $12.4 million Burnie Ambulance Super Station has been completed, with the new station to welcome paramedics later this month.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said the Tasmanian Liberal Government is delivering the key health infrastructure that the community need and staff deserve.

“We are building a better health system to ensure Tasmanians can get the help they need, when and where they need it,” the Premier said.

“The new Burnie Ambulance Super Station is designed to meet the future needs of Tasmanians in the North West, by catering for our increasing paramedic workforce and allowing for up to 20 vehicles on site by 2035.

“Our Government is committed to building state-of-the-art stations for our expanding ambulance services right across the State.”

Minister for Health, Jacquie Petrusma, said the Burnie Ambulance Super Station features a larger garage, dedicated staff training areas to support continued professional development, staff meeting rooms, and improved secure access for staff and visitors.

“The completion of this Super Station is fantastic news for the North West community and is another vital piece of health infrastructure delivered under our Government,” Minister Petrusma said.

“This is one of two new ambulance Super Stations being constructed, with work at the new Glenorchy station almost complete and expected to be operational early next year.

“As we continue to grow ambulance and paramedic services, this state-of-the-art facility will benefit our current workforce with a better working environment, while helping to attract and retain new staff to the region.

“Importantly, we’re continuing to recruit even more paramedics, with the first of our 78 new full-time paramedics recently recruited under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, with more to come.”

The new station on Brickport Road in Cooee is expected to be operational and serving the community later this month.
