New tourism boss appointed

Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine has appointed Brett Ince as its new Executive Director.

Mr Ince will take over from long-time tourism boss Roger Grant who retires in July after 25 years leading tourism in the region.

Currently working as Parks Victoria’s Director of Tourism and Visitor Experience, Mr Ince’s previous roles include Deputy Executive Director and Business Manager at Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine.

His appointment comes as tourism numbers in Greater Geelong and the Bellarine continue to grow.

Last year more than 5.8 million people visited Greater Geelong and the Bellarine, contributing an estimated $2.2 billion to the economy.

Chair of Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine, John Stevens:

“We are delighted to appoint Brett to the role at such an exciting time for the industry.

“Brett’s passion and love for the region together with his industry knowledge and experience made him an outstanding choice to lead our dynamic tourism industry at a time of significant growth.

“We are confident Brett’s previous experience will ensure a smooth transition as he takes over from Roger.

“We would like to thank Roger Grant for his outstanding work and leadership over many years. He leaves the organisation and the industry in great shape.

“A key challenge under Brett’s leadership will be to maximise expenditure, employment and investment from our growing visitor economy.

“Annual visitor numbers are forecast to grow to 7.5 million by 2027 so we will be looking to capitalise on opportunities for local businesses resulting from more visitors to our region.”

Brett Ince:

“I’m thrilled to be back in the region that I know and love.

“I can’t wait to continue on the great work that Roger and the team have done developing Greater Geelong and the Bellarine as an outstanding tourist destination.”
