New traffic arrangements are now in place as the work steps up to build the next stage of Orange’s southern feeder road.
With work about to begin to construct a new roundabout at the intersection of Park and Shiralee Roads, detours are in place to guide residents and visitors, around the construction zone.
Construction company, MAAS Pty Ltd, has sent a letter to residents outlining the new detours.
Orange City Council Infrastructure Committee chair Cr Jack Evans said the new arrangements are designed to keep traffic moving when there is no north-south access through the Park/Shiralee intersection.
“At this stage of the construction, there is east-west access for drivers through the intersection along Park Road, but no north-south traffic access across the intersection,” Cr Jack Evans said.
“This is a major piece of new infrastructure for Orange, and Council is asking residents and visitors to be patient while they get used to new traffic movements.”
The new arrangements, which will stay in place until the roundabout is completed, are:
- Residents and businesses located on Park Road should use Cecil Road (via Park Rd) when coming to and from the Orange CBD, but can’t turn into Shiralee Road.
- Residents and businesses located south of the Park/Shiralee Road intersection, including visitors to the Philip Shaw Winery, will have to use Pinnacle Road via Shiralee Road when coming to and from the Orange CBD, but can’t turn into Park Road.
- Residents and businesses located north of the Park / Shiralee Road intersection will be required to use Shiralee Road when coming to and from the Orange CBD, but can’t turn into Park Road.
