WORLD EXPERTS SAY NEW TREATMENTS WILL SLOW
AUSTRALIA’S ALZHEIMER’S RATES
We are on the verge of a breakthrough in Alzheimer’s disease prevention and treatment that could slow the rapid increase in the number of Australians with the disease, according to world and local experts who are in Sydney to speak at two key events.
Dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, is the nation’s second biggest killer and the leading cause of death among Australian women.
Speaking in Sydney at the on 3 – 5 May and a free public event hosted by the (CNRM), at on 6 May, leaders in neurodegenerative disease will highlight this urgent health crisis and share their ground-breaking approaches that draw on genetics, nutrition and lifestyle to prevent, slow and even reverse Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive decline.
This includes University of California’s Dr Dale Bredesen, who will present evidence on the reversal of Alzheimer’s and cognitive decline in 100 patients, including Australians (as published in the late last year).
Dr Bredesen said tremendous progress had been made and we now had the tools to prevent and reverse Alzheimer’s and cognitive decline.
