New Wahgunyah Pathways links

Wahgunyah path.jpg

Surfacing works on two short sections of pathway in Wahgunyah have been completed.

A new 300m shared pathway link between Short and Blanche Streets was recently constructed along reserve road to improve access onto the existing recreational path network along the Murray River and towards Lake Moodemere.

As part of this link Council is trialling the use of a permeable pathway solution made from 100% recycled plastic. This system is designed to reduce impact on nearby vegetation by using less invasive construction methods and still allowing water to penetrate through it. This section will open to the public in the next few days following completion of some finishing touches by Council staff.

In addition, a short section of gravel footpath on Blanche St was surfaced with a bitumen seal to better ensure the longer term quality of the path and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.

Both newly sealed paths still have a small amount of loose surface stone so we ask people to take care until this settles.

Planning for the next stage of the Wahgunyah to Lake Moodemere shared pathway is also progressing well and we look forward to providing more information soon.
