The construction of the new Wandin North Community Sporting Pavilion has reached an important milestone, with Council appointing Rodine Australia Pty Ltd to undertake the construction of the project at its last Council Meeting.

Works on the new pavilion are anticipated to commence later this month, which will provide a permanent modern home for Wandin sport and recreation groups.

Local Councillor, Tony Stevenson, said he was looking forward to construction getting under way.

“This is going to be a terrific asset for the Wandin community and its many sports, recreation and community groups,” Cr Stevenson said.

“The new pavilion is a modern design, but one that still complements the rural nature of the reserve.

“This community driven project has been made possible through clubs, community and Council working together on a highly functional design to replace the much loved but ancient pavilion. This project has been funded to proceed thanks to the collective support of all three tiers of government – Local, State and Federal.”

The $3.75 million project will deliver change spaces and amenities, a gym, canteen, kitchen, internal and external serveries, storage areas and a central place to hold meetings, social gatherings and community events.

This will also enable other recreation, educational and community groups to benefit from the new facility with its social and meeting room spaces.

The Wandin North Community Sporting Pavilion and netball court improvement project has received $1 million each in funding from both the Federal and State Governments.

The remainder of the project will be funded by Council, community and club contributions.
