New water refill stations make staying healthy easier

Staying hydrated while out for a walk in Campbelltown’s parks just got easier thanks to the installation of six new water refill stations.

Campbelltown Council has partnered with Sydney Water to install six water refill stations across the city in a bid to provide the community with better access to filtered tap water when out and about.

Each water station is wheelchair accessible and has a water bottle refill on the side, bubbler on the front and a dog bowl at ground level.

They have been installed in parks that are typically used for a range of recreational activities including sports, walking, jogging, cycling, or picnicking.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said the water refill stations would help reduce the environmental impact of drinking bottled water by decreasing litter and the number of plastic bottles going to landfill.

“They will also provide access to high quality Sydney tap water, which will give adults and children a healthy alternative to sugary drinks. Along with our continuing work under the Growing Healthy Kids partnership with South Western Sydney Local Health District, this is yet another way we can make healthy choices more accessible and encourage a healthier community”

“Our four legged friends are also cared for, with pet bowls at the bottom of each water station to ensure that they also stay well-watered when they’re out for a walk.”

Water refill stations have been installed at: Raby Sports Complex; Apex Community Park, Bradbury; Milton Park, Macquarie Fields; St Helens Park Leash Free Area; John Kidd Reserve, Blair Athol; and Park Central, Campbelltown.
