New website launched as part of work to reduce alcohol-related harm

NT Government

The Territory Labor Government is addressing the harmful impacts of alcohol misuse.

Today, the Territory Government has launched a new Alcohol Policy website which makes it easier for Territorians to review data and trends about alcohol harm throughout the Territory.

The new website provides a central point for information about alcohol policy, data monitoring work, and is part of the NT Government’s work towards implementing evidence based approaches to prevent and minimise alcohol-related harm.

Public reporting on alcohol harm‑related indicators will be published on a quarterly basis, giving Territorians access to the data NT Government is using to make decisions.

In addition to the Alcohol Policy website, work is also underway to develop an integrated Alcohol Data Dashboard. It will provide up-to-date data from a range of areas including health, education, housing, policing and families.

Quotes from Chief Minister and Minister for Alcohol Policy, Natasha Fyles:

“Alcohol-related harm is one of our biggest challenges and no government has done more to curb this issue.

“From the Banned Drinkers Register, minimum floor price, to Police Auxiliary Liquor Inspectors, and record funding for alcohol treatment services and domestic, family and sexual violence, we continue to invest heavily in this space.

“The Alcohol Policy website will be a central point for our stakeholders and all Territorians who wish to see the latest reporting on the alcohol harm‑related indicators we are using to progress our work in this space.”

“This is just one of many steps we are taking as part of our comprehensive response to alcohol-related harm, which remains one of the greatest social issues facing the Northern Territory.”
