The NSW ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s are pleased to announce the preselection of Nichole Overall to the Legislative Council.
Nichole will fill the casual Legislative Council vacancy caused by the resignation from Parliament of the Hon Sam Farraway.
Nichole is an award-winning writer and social historian. She was elected the Member for Monaro in February 2022, becoming the first woman to hold the seat in its 165-year history.
NSW ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s Chairman Rick Colless said seven nominees contested the preselection ballot, demonstrating the depth of talent within the Party.
“I thank all seven for putting up their hand, and in particular I congratulate Nichole for being preselected,” Mr Colless said.
“Nichole is a proven political performer with a burning passion for the regions. She will not let the people of NSW down,” Mr Colless said.
Mrs Overall said she is honoured and humbled to have been preselected.
“I’m keen to join our dynamic Upper House team and get on with the job of representing and prioritising the people of regional, rural and remote NSW. Thank you for the opportunity to do so.”
NSW ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s’ leader Dugald Saunders said Nichole has always been a fierce advocate for regional NSW, particularly for residents in southern parts of the state.
“I look forward to working with her as we continue to hold the Minns Labor Government to account ahead of the next state election,” Mr Saunders said.
