NSW Police have arrested nine people as part of a joint operation in the State’s South.
Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime committed predominately by young offenders.
Operation Saturation is a high-visibility traffic operation established to target dangerous driving offences across NSW.
The two-day operation, from Tuesday 27 August 2024 to Wednesday 28 August 2024 with officers attached to Murray River Police District, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and the NSW Dog Squad coordinated an operation targeting wanted offenders, stolen motor vehicle and young offenders.
NSW Police arrested nine people, conducted five person searches, conducted one vehicle search, conducted four apprehended domestic violence order compliance checks and 13 bail compliance checks. Charges were laid for a number of offences including 2 stealing offences, 2 possess prohibited drug offences and one breach of bail.

About 11:15pm on Monday 19 August 2024, police were called following an aggravated robbery on Young Street, Albury. Police alleged a 36-year-old man was punched to the face before falling backwards and striking his head on the pavement. A sum of cash and a phone were allegedly stolen, before the man allegedly fled the scene. About 4.55pm on Tuesday 27 August 2024, police attended a home in Maple Place, West Albury. A 33-year-old man was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station. He was charged with aggravated robbery and inflict ABH, dishonestly obtain property by deception. He was refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court on Monday 23 September 2024.
About 10pm yesterday (Wednesday 28 August), officers were patrolling on Koonawarra Street, Lavington when they spotted a man riding an alleged stolen bike into Kooba Street The man allegedly hit in a bush and was found nearby. A 47-year-old man was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station. Police will allege he was in possess of cannabis during his arrest. He was charged with goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, five counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception, larceny and possess prohibited drug. He was granted condition bail to reappear in Albury Local Court on Wednesday 18 September 2024. Police will allege in court the man stolen a bike and debit cards and used them to purchase a number of items at a service station and grocery stores.
