Nine new NSW Police officers graduate from the Professional Mobility Program

Nine new officers join the ranks of the NSW Police Force today graduating from the inaugural Professional Mobility Program.

The Professional Mobility Program began in May 2024 and allows current serving police officers from other jurisdictions within Australia and New Zealand to train and become police officers in NSW.

Today (Friday 13 December 2024), NSW Police Commissioner, Karen Webb, APM, was joined at the Sydney Police Centre by Deputy Commissioner Dean Smith, Deputy Commissioner Paul Pisanos APM, Deputy Commissioner Peter Thurtell APM, Assistant Commissioner Peter McKenna APM, Acting Assistant Commissioner Trent King, and Parliamentary Secretary for Police and Counterterrorism, Edmond Atalla MP to welcome the new officers into the NSW Police Force.

On Monday 16 December 2024, the officers will be deployed to police stations across the state for their first day on the job serving the NSW community.

Minister for Police and Counter-terrorism, the Honourable Yasmin Catley MP welcomes the new officers to the NSW Police Force.

“We are thrilled to have these experienced officers join the ranks.

“The Professional Mobility scheme, alongside paid study and a historic pay agreement make becoming a police officer in NSW the most attractive it has been in decades. We are seeing a significant increase in applications to join the NSW Police and a more diverse range of recruits.

“There’s never been a better time to join the NSW Police Force.”

NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb APM said today’s graduation ceremony marked a significant milestone for the NSW Police Force.

“The first Professional Mobility Program has opened pathways for officers seeking to move to NSW from other jurisdictions and I am proud to welcome them all into our world-class police family,” Commissioner Webb said.

“As a member of the largest policing organisation in Australia, they will have an integral role to play in serving their local communities and in keeping NSW safe.

“Each officer’s past service brings diverse experience, skills and knowledge that will prove invaluable to not only the officers they serve alongside but also the people of NSW.

“I encourage the new officers to wear the badge with pride.”
