The Ken Lay Report investigating the need for a second injecting room earmarked for Melbourne’s CBD must be released today.
If not, the Liberals and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s will move to suspend the Leader of the Legislative Council, Jaclyn Symes.
Last month, a motion passed the Legislative Council, requiring the Allan Labor Government to publicly release the full Ken Lay Report by March 6.
Shadow Minister for Mental Health, Emma Kealy, said there can be no more excuses.
“The day has arrived. Ms Symes and Labor have an obligation to deliver on the will of the House,” Ms Kealy said.
“Failure to produce the Lay Report today is not only a snub to the Parliament of Victoria, but also the businesses and residents who want to know Labor’s plans for another injecting room after four long years waiting for answers.
“Businesses and residents surrounding both the proposed locations, Yooralla Building on Flinders Street, and the Salvation Army building on Bourke Street, have been left in the dark for too long.
“The Government has had the final report for 279 days, but has locked the report in the Premier’s top drawer. Labor must reveal Lay’s Report to the public today.”
