Nominate a deserving Bayside resident for a Victorian Senior of the Year Award

The annual awards celebrate the amazing contributions and achievements of older Victorians who generously share their skills, experiences, time, and energy with our community.

This is your chance to make sure a special person in your life receives the appreciation they deserve.

People in Victoria who are 60 years or over, and First Nations people who are 50 years or over, are eligible to be nominated for these awards.

The Victorian Senior of the Year Awards include six award categories:

  • Premier’s Award for Victorian Senior of the Year
  • Promotion of Multiculturalism Award
  • Healthy and Active Living Award
  • Veteran Community Award
  • Ageing Well Award
  • COTA (Council on the Ageing) Victoria Senior Achiever Awards.

2023 Victorian Senior of the Year Award winner

Last year, Rachel Sandey, the President of the Friendship at Russian Seniors in Hampton, was recognised with a Victorian Senior of the Year Award. The club highlighted Rachel’s positive outlook on aging as an inspiration to people of all ages in Bayside and beyond, encouraging them to embrace the later stages of life with optimism.

2021 Victorian Senior of the Year Award winner

In 2021, Brighton East woman with a Victorian Senior of the Year Award. Brenda, who has lived in Bayside for 43 years, said her energy for volunteering comes from how it makes her feel.
