The 2019 TechDiversity awards are now open. Individuals and groups who are raising awareness and creating change through diversity initiatives and technology programs are encouraged to apply.
The awards showcase the successful initiatives being implemented by organisations across the technology sector and demonstrate how technology companies can achieve greater innovation, growth and competitiveness with diverse programs. Covering government, business, media and education, the awards have been created to celebrate leadership and highlight the enabling potential of a diverse workforce.
The was last year’s government award winner and overall #TechDiversity Champion. Their winning program – Rise at DHHS – has broken new ground by employing people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to work on indexing and archiving records, while building skills and confidence, and influencing others.
Winning the award has brought peer recognition to DHHS, and the Rise team hopes it will encourage others to follow their example to allow the program to expand. Anyone working in on a program that encourages diversity and that is enabled by technology is encouraged to submit a nomination. Programs can be established (have been implemented for two years or more) or new initiatives (initiatives running for less than 12 months).
