Celebrate your local hero by nominating them for the 2025 Australia Day Awards.
The awards recognise Townsville’s unsung heroes and pay tribute to the people in our community who go above and beyond to help improve the lives of others.
Mayor Troy Thompson said the awards were the perfect chance to recognise someone special.
“Council works to build a diverse, friendly and strong community, but we can’t do that without the contributions of our residents,” Cr Thompson said.
“Townsville has so many dedicated, enthusiastic and hardworking community members who fly under the radar and are too humble to seek out recognition.
“We name our Australia Day Award recipients each year to shine a light on the good that these humble heroes do for our city.
“If you have a neighbour, a friend, or someone you have come across through school, church or a community group who should have their contributions recognised, nominate them for the 2025 Australia Day Awards now.”
The awards categories are:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Arts and Culture Award
- Community Volunteer Award
- Senior Sports Award
- Junior Sports Award
- Environmental Excellence and Sustainability Award
Entries are open now and close at 11.59pm on Monday 11 November.
