Nominations are now open for the 2020 Geelong Youth
Awards with the community encouraged to nominate young people aged 12-25 who
live in Greater Geelong.
With young people experiencing the challenges of
the Coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions aimed at containing the spread of
the virus, it is a great time to highlight and celebrate the enormous
contribution that they make to our community.
The aim of the awards is to celebrate young people
who have made or who are currently making significant contributions in the
areas of leadership, equality, inclusion, diversity, education, and the arts.
The six awards are:
- The Young Educator
award recognises a young person’s contribution and achievement in
education and community development; - The Equality
Award recognises the effort of a young person striving to promote
equality for young people; - The Leadership
Award recognises a young person who has demonstrated leadership within
their community through school, work or other contributions; - The Disability
Inclusion Award recognises a young person who has worked towards making the
Geelong community more accessible and inclusive for people with a lived
experience of disability; - The Diverse
