The awards are proudly presented by Council each year to recognise individuals who make an important contribution to the Boroondara community.
We encourage the community to share stories of people who show exceptional leadership or commitment to helping others, in areas such as sport, arts and culture, education, business or community service.
Categories
There are 2 award categories:
Citizen of the Year
This is presented to someone who has made an outstanding contribution and service to the community over a number of years.
To be eligible, the person must live, study, volunteer or work in Boroondara.
Young Citizen of the Year
This is presented to a young emerging leader who is making a real difference in our community.
To be eligible, the person must be an Australian citizen aged over 16 years and under 26 years of age on January 26, 2023.
Considerations
Nominees will be judged on the following criteria:
- Significant contribution to the local community.
- Impact or benefits of their contribution.
- Demonstrated leadership, commitment to helping others or inspired others as a role model.
- Special skills, talents or attributes that make the nominee stand out in the Boroondara community.
Nomination process
You can nominate an individual who you feel deserves recognition by filling out the .
Nominations close at 5 pm on Friday, 25 November 2022.
We encourage you to provide as much information as possible about your nominee to allow them the best opportunity for consideration during the shortlisting and selection process.
All award winners and nominees will be recognised at the City of Boroondara’s annual Australia Day citizenship ceremony on 26 January 2023.
