Nominations are now open for the 2023 Teaching in the Territory Excellence Awards, recognising the vital contribution our teachers, principals and support staff make to improving educational outcomes for young Territorians.
Nominations are being sought across 9 award categories, which are:
· NT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Educator of the Year
· NT Early Childhood Educator of the Year
· NT Inclusion Educator of the Year
· NT Leader in Education
· NT Primary Educator of the Year
· NT Principal of the Year
· NT Secondary Educator of the Year
· NT Support Person of the Year
· NT Vocational Education Trainer of the Year
Each category will have a regional and overall winner.
NT Department of Education, Chief Executive, Karen Weston said being a teacher is an exciting and rewarding career, and the Teaching in the Territory Excellence Awards are a wonderful way to recognise our educators’ commitment to delivering the very best education for all young Territorians.
“We are extremely fortunate to have an outstanding cohort of passionate and motivated educators who are committed to inspiring young people to learn and reach their full potential,” Ms Weston said.
“By nominating a high calibre teacher, support staff or leader you are letting them know their commitment and contribution is appreciated and really makes a difference to the lives of our students and families.”
All nominees must be working in a NT Government School at the time of nominations.

Nominations close on Friday 2 June 2023 and winners will be announced at an awards ceremony held on World Teachers Day, 27 October 2023.
