Devonport City Council is proud to announce that nominations for the Australia Day Awards are now open. These prestigious awards celebrate the extraordinary contributions of individuals and groups who have tirelessly served and enhanced the Devonport community.
Each year, these awards shine a light on the heroes of Devonport, recognising their dedication and service. Embodying the spirit of the community, the awards align with the core Australian values of excellence, diversity, equity, and public service.
“We are seeking nominations for those outstanding individuals and groups who truly make a difference in our community,” said Devonport Mayor Alison Jarman. “The Devonport Australia Day Awards are a chance to acknowledge and thank those who go above and beyond in their service to others.”
Nominations are open in three major categories:
Citizen of the Year: Celebrating an individual whose contributions have significantly benefited the Devonport community.
Young Citizen of the Year: Dedicated to highlighting the achievements of our younger residents, this category is open to individuals under the age of 30 as of 26 January 2024.
Community Event of the Year: This award honours a community event that has had a profound positive impact within the Devonport area, conducted after 26 January 2023.
Nominations will be evaluated based on the nominee’s contribution to the community, achievement levels, background information, and community involvement.
