Nominations open for membership of the Ministerial Advisory Council on Disability

Disability Services Minister Don Punch is encouraging people interested in joining the Ministerial Advisory Council on Disability to submit a nomination this month.

The Council was established to represent people with disability, their families and carers in Western Australia, to provide advice to the Disability Services Minister about issues affecting the community.

A key focus of the Council’s work over the coming term is to promote and drive the delivery of the Western Australian Government’s A Western Australia for Everyone: State Disability Strategy 2020-2030 and provide advice on the Disability Royal Commission recommendations.

Applications are sought from people with disability, family members, carers and people with knowledge of, and experience in disability. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.

“The Ministerial Advisory Council on Disability plays a vital role in building a more inclusive Western Australia and empowering people with disability to participate meaningfully in all parts of society.

“There’s never been a more important time to get involved with all the changes underway in the disability landscape and I strongly encourage people who can demonstrate the required skills, knowledge or experience to nominate for membership.

“I would like to thank the outgoing members of the Council for their commitment to creating an inclusive Western Australia for people with disability.”
