Nominations open for Study NT International Student Awards

NT Government

Attracting more international students to live, study and work in the Northern Territory is a priority for the Territory Labor Government, and providing professional development and growth opportunities is a key attraction strategy.

One of the growth opportunities is provided by the Study NT International Student Awards, which recognise and celebrate international students for academic success and community mindedness.

Nominations for 2023 are now open until 1 October 2023 with a new Alumni category and new prize money allocations.

To nominate an international student for International Student of the Year, International Student Volunteer of the Year, a former international student for International Alumni of the Year, or a business or organisation for International Student Employer of the Year, visit the Study NT website .

International students are an incredibly important part of the wider Territory community.

They strengthen our cultural diversity, boost the local workforce and deliver social and economic benefits.

The awards program is just one of the ways the NT Government provides support to students studying in the Territory from overseas.

Quotes from Minister for International Education, Ngaree Ah Kit:

“International students are an important part of our community. They add to our vibrant multicultural community, strengthen our workforce and contribute to our economy.

“This year’s addition of an Alumni category also recognises the incredibly important role that international students who have graduated and chosen to stay in the Territory, play in our community.

“They are the best advocates to attract the next wave of international students to the Northern Territory and help grow this important sector.”

Quotes from Study NT 2022 International Student of the Year, Rosie Nguyen from Vietnam:

“Receiving the 2022 Study NT International Student Award boosts my self-esteem and motivates me to excel.

“The honour enhances my resume, opening new career opportunities and acting as a stepping stone to personal growth and a successful career. It also encourages me to work harder to give back to the community.”
