People living in the north of Byron Shire are being asked to provide Council with information relating to any drainage or stormwater problems on their properties.
The request comes after a resolution from last week’s Council meeting, which directs staff to develop a detailed plan for the assessment, maintenance and upgrading of drainage infrastructure in areas including Brunswick Heads, Mullumbimby, Billinudgel, Ocean Shores, New Brighton and South Golden Beach.
“Council staff complete regular inspections but may not see every problem that is out there and the recent floods may have highlighted new problems that staff may not be aware of,” Council’s Director Infrastructure Services, Phil Holloway said.
In the wake of the floods, information provided by residents about their experiences with stormwater, drainage and flooding will be used as a basis for grant applications and work programs in the future.
All residents are invited to provide their feedback to Council, along with any photos or documents, via a survey on . Submissions close on 10 June 2022.
Everyone is invited to a Council drop-in session being held on Monday 6 June 2022 at 4pm at the Billinudgel Hotel.
Staff will be available to talk about the work program and provide feedback about their experiences.
