Rockhampton Regional Council will host a BBQ this Friday at the Heritage Village and is inviting residents from the Northern Suburbs to pop in and talk to Councillors about what they want for the future of their area.

Councillor Shane Latcham said the event was a chance to hear directly from the residents and to talk about Rockhampton’s plans if the transfer of Glendale, Glenlee and Rockyview occurs.

“We have a very passionate community out there who have been asking us for an opportunity to talk about their area’s future and what matters to them,” Cr Latcham said.

“We’re hosting this event so we can do just that. We want to hear from them about their issues, their concerns and what they want their area to look like in the future.

“We care about those residents and we want them to know that. So this is an opportunity to tell Rockhampton Regional Councillors directly what you want and ask us any questions you might have about the transfer.

“The BBQ will be held from 2:30pm to 6:30pm on Friday 17th at the Heritage Village and we want residents from Glendale, Glenlee and Rockyview to come along and talk to us.

“We know not everyone will be able to make it though, which is why Rockhampton Regional Council will have a pop up shop at Parkhurst Shopping Centre from tomorrow for the next month.

“This will be a place you can drop in through the week or on a Saturday morning and talk to our staff about the proposed transfer and answer any questions you might have.

“Rockhampton Regional Council wants to make sure we give those residents every opportunity to talk to us and answer your questions, so if you can’t make it to the BBQ this Friday, please drop into the pop-up shop and talk to one of our friendly staff.

“We’ll also have a customer service point set-up there so please drop in if you have any enquiry no matter where you live and we’ll be happy to help,” Cr Latcham said.

The pop-up shop at Parkhurst Shopping Centre will be open 8am-6pm Monday to Friday and until 12:30pm on Saturdays.
