The latest visitor numbers highlight the Northern Territory’s COVID-19 recovery is on track with tourists staying longer and spending more, boosting our economy and supporting local jobs.
In the year ending September 2022, visitor expenditure exceeded $2.6 billion with average spend per trip and average length of stay surging past pre-pandemic levels.
There were 1.46 million visitors reported for the NT in the year ending September 2022, a 9% increase compared to the year ending September 2021, with 33% growth from interstate markets.
Interstate holiday visitation is up by 4% and Territorians travelling within the Territory for holiday purposes up by 21%.
The Territory Labor Government is building on tourism’s strong recovery, continuing to invest in attractions and experiences, highlighting the Territory’s unique offerings through compelling campaigns and giving people a reason to not just come to the Territory, but to visit again.
