The Territory Labor Government is establishing the Northern Territory as the undeniable leader in Australia’s Aboriginal tourism sector.
Today marks the inaugural Aboriginal Tourism Forum and the release of the second progress report on the Northern Territory Aboriginal Tourism Strategy 2020-2030 – a chance to reflect on achievements and envision a bold future together.
The forum brings together operators, potential tourism market entrants, industry bodies and other stakeholders to drive the future of the strategy, identify new opportunities and learn from previous successes and challenges.
Tourism will make a critical contribution to a $40 billion Territory economy by 2030, and unique Aboriginal experiences provide a key opportunity to achieve tourism’s targets.
Authentic Aboriginal cultural experiences set the Territory apart and tourists flock to our regions to immerse themselves in history and culture.
The Territory Labor Government is supporting the Aboriginal tourism sector to boost and enhance its offerings to cement the Northern Territory’s rightful status as the nation’s leader in this space.
Infrastructure projects such as the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Aboriginal Art Gallery in Alice Springs and the Larrakia Cultural Centre at Stokes Hill are a key part of the drive for quality offerings, supported by our Tourism NT Aboriginal tourism grants, dedicated marketing campaigns like the recent ‘Culture is closer than you think’ and the Aboriginal Tourism Committee.
