Not feeling well? Get tested

With the latest information from the Northern NSW Local Health District announcing 21 new cases of COVID-19 in the region, this is the time for people who are not feeling well to go and get tested.

Thirteen of the new cases were in the Byron Shire with eight of those linked to the event at Coorabell Hall last Saturday (4 December 2021). The total number of cases from the Coorabell Hall event is now 16.

“I understand this is a worrying time for many people and it’s important that everyone follows the advice from NSW Health,” Byron Shire Mayor, Michael Lyon, said.

“This includes testing and isolating according to the rules because the last thing any of us wants is a large-scale COVID outbreak on the eve of Christmas and the holiday season,” he said.

“The Northern NSW Local Health District has reported that more than 800 people had COVID tests at clinics in Byron Bay on Wednesday and Thursday this week which is good news.

“I am really pleased that the Local Health District has arranged for testing to be available in Mullumbimby this weekend,” Mayor Lyon said.

QML Pathology in Stuart Street will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 8am – 1pm.

“There are a lot of schoolies still in the area and with the Queensland school holidays starting today, NSW students breaking up next week and the Queensland border opening on Monday, there are a lot of people out and about.

“My message to locals and visitors is to please check-in to shops and venues, wear a mask when necessary, keep the distance to at least 1.5m and of course – please get tested if you aren’t feeling 100%,” Mayor Lyon said.
