Not long until Accelerate Manufacturing makes its return to the region

Western Downs Regional Council

2023 Manufacturing Conference

Accelerate Manufacturing: Western Down Manufacturing Conference will return to the Dalby Events Centre on 29 May for its third consecutive year, bringing together industry experts to drive discussions on emerging trends and opportunities within the sector.

Hosted by Western Downs Regional Council, this free conference invites businesses and individuals interested in or connected to the manufacturing industry to join leaders, investors, and innovators from across Queensland for insightful discussions and valuable networking opportunities.

Councillor Megan James, Council Spokesperson for Business Strategy and Economic Development said this conference offered a fantastic opportunity for those in the industry to come together, share ideas, and drive innovation.

“The Western Downs is a recognised leader in manufacturing, with 123 manufacturing businesses operating in the region, and Council is dedicated to investing in the continued growth and success of this industry to benefit the whole region economically,” Cr James said.

“This conference will bring together government officials, industry experts, and investors from across the state to exchange the latest ideas, navigate government policies, funding and programs, discuss operational performance and business efficiency, and how to thrive in an industry enduring constant change.

“With four panels planned throughout the day, Council has lined up 15 experts who will drive discussions on a varied program of topics; lean manufacturing and efficiency, diversity and inclusion, ESG (Environment, Social and Governance), and youth skilling and industry pathways.

“We hope this conference attracts a mixture of those who already work for a manufacturing business in the region, those who may be interested in what manufacturing opportunities exists in the Western Downs, as well as young people interested in joining the industry.

“In the Western Downs, it’s the people that make it which is very much the case with our manufacturing sector, and I encourage all locals connected to the industry to register for this great opportunity to expand their horizons and network with others.”

Rebecca Andrews, Chief Executive Officer at Manufacturing Skills Queensland said events like this are important as they bring industry and people together to discuss challenges and opportunities and meet new connections.

“This event is going to showcase local manufacturers, how important they are to the region and our state, and bring people together to learn and collaborate,” Ms Andrews said.

“This is vitally important as is shows our businesses that we value them and that by working together we can grow, find solutions to challenges, and share in our successes.

“I love meeting manufacturing businesses and learning from them about what they make and how they contribute to our economy and communities. It is one of the best things about my job.”

The conference is free to attend but registration is required. A networking event hosted by Dalby Chamber of Commerce will take place at the Dalby Events Centre following the conference which all attendees are welcome to attend.
