NPSP endorses updated St Morris Reserve Concept Plan following extensive community consultation

After receiving more than 150 submissions from our community and hosting two Community Information Sessions, the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters has endorsed an updated St Morris Reserve Concept Plan to better reflect the community’s expectations.

St Morris Reserve, which is located at the intersection of Green Street and Seventh Avenue, is being upgraded as part of the Council’s multi-million-dollar program to manage stormwater and flooding in the suburbs of St Morris, Trinity Gardens, Maylands and Stepney.

“The Council is grateful for the interest shown by the local community during the consultation process. The feedback was invaluable in helping to achieve a good balance in terms of the elements included in the final design, ” Mayor Bria said.

The Final Concept also includes:

  • a new playground;
  • an external gate to provide access to the playground without the need to enter the Reserve – this will also help alleviate concerns about dogs near the playground;
  • a multi-purpose court (which was requested by 67.7 per cent of survey respondents)
  • an accessible toilet
  • toilet, picnic tables, shade, additional trees;
  • barbeques; and
  • bollard lighting.

More than 70 per cent of those people who responded to the survey supported the Draft Concept Plan. However, many of the respondents thought that a fence should be retained around the Reserve so we have amended the Final Concept Plan accordingly,” he said.

“The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters would like to acknowledge and thank all of the citizens who took part in the consultation process by attending the Community Information Sessions and completing the survey.

“Your knowledge and input is integral to the development of the Reserve and ensures that it caters for the needs of the current and future community.”

The Upgrade is expected to cost around $5 million and be completed by the end of 2024.
