The ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a remote area hazard deduction burn in the Byadbo Wilderness Area of Kosciuszko ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park on Wednesday 5 April, weather permitting.
The aim of the Guttamurh Creek hazard reduction burn is to reduce fuel loads on ridge tops in this remote area.
This burn is being conducted alongside an adjacent burn in Victoria with Forest Fire Management Victoria.
Smoke may be visible for a few days along the Barry Way in the Snowy River Corridor and Byadbo Wilderness Area.
Hazard reduction burns are essential to reduce bushfire fuel loads to help protect parks, neighbours and communities from future bushfires.
All NPWS burns continue being coordinated with the NSW RFS to ensure the impact on the community is assessed at a regional level.
