North Queensland’s popular biennial agricultural event, NQ Field Days is returning to Townsville this week with the support of Townsville City Council.
Under management of the Rotary Clubs of Townsville in 2024, the event will continue to highlight the region’s agricultural sector while working with exhibitors to create a successful field day.
A Council spokesperson said the agricultural industry event will receive a fee waiver of $13,200 from Council towards the use of Reid Park.
“Townsville City Council is committed to creating a sustainable destination that embraces and participates in the arts, sports, events and recreational activities. NQ Field Days is a great example of an event with widespread community appeal, which showcases a vital industry for our region,” they said.
“With Townsville recently voted as one of Australia’s top travel towns for 2024 by readers of The New Daily, events like NQ Field Days bolster our reputation as the events capital of the North, and we encourage those in town for the weekend to check out everything on offer, including the North Queensland Cowboys taking on the Titans on Sunday.”
Rotary NQ Field Days, Vice Chair, Bill Barber said NQ Field Days was a chance for industry professionals to gain valuable insights into the new technologies and services available in the agricultural sector.
“Business and industry groups head to Field Days to learn about the sector’s newest innovations as well as to make invaluable connections with other industry specialists,” Bill said.
“Field Days is a hub of activity, with information exchanges, sales deals and contract signings. Participating in the event is an opportunity for local businesses to make the most of the travelling visitors who come from across the state to attend the two-day event.
“As with all Townsville Rotary Market initiatives, the profits of the Rotary NQ Field Days will go directly back into the local Townsville and regional communities.”
The Council spokesperson said NQ Field Days would draw more visitors into Townsville off the back of international popstar Pink.
“This year’s Field Days are expected to draw up to 6,000 residents and visitors to the event, which will include groups who have travelled from out of town. This will provide a boost to local traders, attraction, accommodation and hospitality operators,” they said.
“With more than 200 exhibitors expected, including 200 volunteer opportunities, this is looking like two great days out with plenty of new agricultural technologies and services to discover.”
NQ Field Days will be held on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 April 2024 at Reid Park.
