Ms Shelley now goes into the running, along with four others, for the national Programmed Award for Village Manager of the Year, with the winner to be announced at the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Retirement Living Awards in June.
Ms Shelley, who manages Tarragal Glen Retirement Village in Erina on the NSW Central Coast, said she was over the moon to win the award, while also congratulating her fellow finalist, Bolton Clarke’s Belinda Mead.
“I’ve been involved as a village manager for 12 years and have attended a lot of events with village managers from across the state, and with the calibre of people we have running our villages, to win this award is an absolute honour,” Ms Shelley said.
“Three years ago I was given the opportunity to go and work for RetireAustralia and I have to say it is the best decision I have ever made.
“For a company to trust me, support me and encourage me the way they do is the reason I am standing here today.
“A big thank you to my wonderful staff and residents, it is an absolute pleasure to come to work every day. I love my village and I love my residents,” she said.
