NSW Liberals recommit to support Korean cultural celebrations

The state’s Korean communities will once again be supported to hold cultural celebrations by a re-elected NSW Liberal Government.

Liberal candidate for Ryde, Jordan Lane, welcomed the announcement remarking on the positive contributions of the Korean community.

“We have seen so much vibrancy added to our local area through the Korean community, and this investment by the NSW Liberal Government will ensure that continues.” Mr Lane said.

Minister for Multiculturalism Mark Coure said a re-elected Perrottet Liberal Government will invest $560,000 over four years to help the Korean community celebrate their culture across the State.

“The NSW Liberal Government is committed to helping our state’s diverse communities celebrate their culture with everyone,” Mr Coure said.

“We are now committing to continuing this support by providing $140,000 a year for four years to the Korean community.

“As part of this investment, we will also be providing $15,000 a year for four years to Australia Korea Cultural Art Inc to host its annual Sydney Korean Festival.”

In addition to committing $560,000 in its next term, the Perrottet Liberal Government will provide $200,000 to the Korean Society of Sydney to go towards supporting the building of new infrastructure to support the growing Korean community.

NSW Liberal Member for the Legislative Council Scott Farlow said the Korean community is a strong part of NSW’s multicultural society.

“We are incredibly proud of the diversity we have here in NSW, and the Korean community has played a significant role in helping our state be the peaceful and colourful place it is today.” Mr Farlow said.
