A NSW man is to face court today after being extradited from Queensland on five outstanding warrants.
A 29-year-old man who had been wanted on outstanding NSW warrants since June 2017 over traffic offences, has been extradited from Queensland
On Wednesday 31 October 2018, officers from Strike Force Puma were patrolling Wollombi Road at Broke, when they attempted to stop a Toyota Hilux utility.
The Toyota failed to stop and was pursued by police before allegedly braking harshly and reversing, ramming the police vehicle.
Police got out and the Toyota drove off. The Toyota was later found abandoned in a nearby paddock.
It’s alleged the 29-year-old man was driving at the time.
Extensive efforts by officers from Hawkesbury Proactive Crime Team and Strikeforce Puma to locate the man, had been unsuccessful to date.
Following further inquiries, Queensland Police officers, at the request of NSW investigators, attended a hotel in Beaudesert, Queensland about 5pm on Wednesday (15 May 2019), and arrested a 29-year-old man.
He appeared before Beenleigh Magistrates Court yesterday (Thursday 16 May 2019), and an extradition order was granted.
He was extradited to Tweed Heads Police Station where five outstanding warrants were executed for use weapon to avoid apprehension, police pursuit, multiple counts of drive whilst disqualified, and impersonate police.
The Broke man has been refused bail to appear before Tweed Heads Local Court today (Friday 17 May 2019).
