The NSW ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s would like to thank The Hon Dr David Gillespie for his dedication and service, following his announcement that he will not be contesting the next Federal Election.
Dr Gillespie was elected The ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s Member for Lyne in September 2013. He was re-elected in 2016, 2019, and 2022.
In that time he held a wide range of parliamentary positions including Minister for Regional Health, Minister Assisting the Minister for Trade and Investment, Assistant Minister for Children and Families, Assistant Minister for Health, and Assistant Minister for Rural Health.
NSW ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s Chair Rick Colless has praised Dr Gillespie for his contribution to the Party, to politics, and most importantly the people of the Lyne electorate.
“Dr Dave, as we know him, came into politics on the back of 33 years of medical practice, include 21 years as a specialist gastroenterologist and consultant specialist physician in Port Macquarie,” Mr Colless said.
“He turned that dedication for his patients into his dedication for his constituents, and he has fought tirelessly for the people of Lyne.
“His slogan is ‘He Listens. He Cares. He Delivers’ and I don’t think you can ask any more from a local member.
“In recent times Dr Dave has used his medical and scientific background to support the push towards nuclear energy. As Minister for Regional Health he had oversight of the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency, which has allowed him to bring a unique perspective to this debate.
“On behalf of the NSW ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s, I would like to thank Dr Dave for everything he has done, and wish him, Charlotte and their extended family all the best for their future.”
