A range of positions are now on offer for dedicated healthcare professionals to join the team delivering essential health services at the new $723.3 million Tweed Valley Hospital.
More than 80 full time equivalent (FTE) roles are now being advertised in the latest round of recruitment for positions including nurses, pharmacists, security, managers, technicians, and support roles.
Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) has been recruiting to fill existing vacancies and secure key positions in the lead up to the opening of the new hospital on Tuesday 14 May 2024.
Minister for Health Ryan Park said this latest round of recruitment will boost the capacity of the local workforce and support the new and expanded services which will soon be available to the community.
“It’s really exciting for a modern new facility like this to open for the community, but it isn’t shiny new buildings which provide the healthcare, so what I am really excited about is these varied opportunities for healthcare professionals to join our workforce in the Tweed,” Mr Park said.
“I am pleased to the district has already recruited some key new roles such as the Director of Cardiology Services, Corporate Services Manager, clinicians who will deliver our new radiotherapy service, and many nursing and support staff.
“We look forward to welcoming additional staff on board in the coming months.”
Labor Spokesperson for Tweed Emily Suvaal said these positions are a fantastic opportunity to live and work in a regional community.
“I know the value of working in a regional community and it is made even more exciting for the staff to have the opportunity to work in this brilliant facility,” Ms Suvaal said.
NNSWLHD is also welcoming 86 new graduate nurses and midwives this year to The Tweed Hospital as part of the 2024 graduate intake, and these staff will transition to the new facility along with existing hospital staff when it opens to patients in May.
Staff orientation for the new hospital has commenced and will continue throughout the operational commissioning period.
The new $723.3 million hospital will deliver additional health services and bed capacity to meet the growing community’s healthcare needs, including interventional cardiology, radiotherapy as part of integrated cancer care, satellite medical imaging within the Emergency Department, and enhanced surgical services. The new hospital will also provide an expanded outpatients department, mental health service and medical inpatient units.
Job vacancies will continue to be advertised as they become available.
