NSW police appeal after 2018 deliberately lit hotel fire at Petersham

Police are appealing for public assistance after a deliberately lit fire in Sydney’s inner west last year.

About 1.15am on Monday 4 June 2018, emergency services were called to a hotel on Parramatta Road, Petersham, after reports of a hotel on fire.

No one was injured, however the fire caused minor fire damage and moderate smoke damage to the front door and roof of the building.

Detectives from Inner West Police Area Command attended the scene of the fire and are continuing extensive inquiries into the suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police can confirm that the fire was lit via a jerry can containing an accelerant being ignited at the location.

Detectives have released CCTV of the fire and would like to speak with two men who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The first man is depicted wearing a black hooded jumper, tracksuit pants with white stripes down the leg and pink/red coloured shoes.

The second man is depicted wearing a dark hooded jumper, red covering over face, dark long pants, black shoes with a Nike tick.

Police urge anyone with information or who may have been in the vicinity during the time of the incident to come forward.
