NSW police appeal following child approach near Hunter Valley

Police are appealing for public assistance after a child approach in the Hunter region.

About 3.40pm yesterday (Thursday 31 January 2019), two boys, aged 6 and 8, exited their school bus and began walking home on Sawyer Street, Paxton.

The pair noticed a man sitting in a vehicle nearby, who gestured the boys to come towards him.

The boys ran away along McDonald and Francis Streets, before arriving home.

It’s believed the vehicle followed the boys on the same route.

Police were contacted and officers from Hunter Valley Police District attended the scene.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 50s, with a long grey beard, and grey hair worn in a ponytail.

He was last seen wearing a yellow high-visibility shirt, driving on Anderson Street at Paxton, in a white utility, with grey tinted windows and a black canopy on a white coloured tray.
