A man has died following a crash in the state’s north yesterday.
Just after 3.40pm (Wednesday 19 August 2020), emergency services were called to Ashford Road, Wandera, north of Inverell, after reports two Toyota Landcruiser’s had collided head-on.
The first Landcruiser left the road and rolled down an embankment, trapping the driver. The driver and sole occupant, a 32-year-old man, died at the scene.
The driver of the second Landcruiser that was towing a trailer and two passengers, aged 42 and 13, suffered minor injuries.
The driver, a 49-year-old man, was taken to hospital to undergo mandatory testing.
Officers from New England Police District established a crime scene and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
